Haiti Benefit Show and Dance in Mississauga

Outstanding performers and artists combined their talents in Mississauga on February 7th, for a live show, dance, and art sale to benefit survivors of the earthquake in Haiti. The event was organized by professional musician/educator Anne-Marie Brimacombe in collaboration with the Mississauga Arts Council and Orfeao Stella Maris.
For $10 admission, audience members enjoyed live performances by Calypsonians Macomere Fifi and the Hurricane, the Stella Maris Portuguese Choir, Melodias de Sempre, Habeeba's Egyptian Dance Ensemble, Tropical Jam, and Haitian drummers and dancers.
Art Trax also exhibited and sold their works to benefit Haiti relief.
The Mississauga Arts Council wishes to thank Anne-Marie Brimacombe, the Stella Maris Portuguese Choir, the Portuguese Cultural Centre, The Canadian Red Cross and all of the talented performers and patrons who made the Haiti Benefit Show and Dance in Mississauga a great success! The Mississauga Arts Council, established in 1981 by City Resolution, is a non-profit registered charity governed by a Board of Directors. Our mission is “to foster and develop, support and champion a vibrant, dynamic arts community in the city of Mississauga through services, to enrich the lives of its citizens.” We are the most comprehensive resource for arts and entertainment information in the city of Mississauga. We support and promote the activities of over 215 arts organizations (representing more than 23,000 artists) and several hundred individual members.
The Mississauga Arts Council is instrumental in advocating for the building of Arts Spaces in Mississauga, including Meadowvale Theatre, the Art Gallery of Mississauga and the Living Arts Centre and is currently involved in a major awareness campaign for the arts in Mississauga. |
