September 25 for 5 weeks: Walmart Arts at Play – Missisauga Arts Council in Collaboration with the Malton Community Centre: Missisauga Arts Council and the Malton Communtiy Centre are collaborating to run the Walmart Arts at Play workshops at the Malton Community Centre. These workshops will work towards allowing the attendees to develop and exhibit an arts project over the period of five weeks. The attendees will develop a project for four weeks and then showcase it at an Open Mic that will be held in the fifth week. Sirius Theatrical Company (Etobicoke) – Auditions – Youth Performance Ensemble Auditions: Sept. 10, 11, 12, 2014, Course Begins: Sept. 25, 2014 through May 2015. Acceptance into this advanced acting program is by AUDITION ONLY. A full year commitment from September 2014 through May 2015 is required. The Youth Performance Ensemble is a core group of youth, 14 to 17 years of age, who are interested in developing strong performance and acting skills. The group meets weekly on Thursday evenings from 4:30 – 6:30 pm in the Sirius Theatrical Studio in south Etobicoke. The course instructor is Artistic Director, Heather Dick. Because we want to challenge our students to stretch their performance skills, their training in voice, acting technique, body movement, improvisation and character development will be applied directly to the rehearsal and performance of two productions, one in December and one in the spring of 2014. The December production will be a traditional comic MUMMERS show which will include big characters and clowning. The spring production will be SHAKESPEARE SHORTS, challenging scenes from some of Shakespeare’s most famous plays.
