Our Michael Spence Award recognizes outstanding contribution, generosity of spirit, involvement, and legendary commitment to community theatre in a region. The award is presented annually within the region that is hosting the Theatre Ontario Festival. VAM invites artists ages 18 to 30, working in the GTA, to submit to its upcoming exhibition Necessary Gestures. VAM will host the exhibition supporting artists working in experimental processes using a combination of traditional and new media. The exhibition will run from February 6 until February 19, 2017 in The VAM Gallery. “In order for culture to exist, it needs a space to grow. This exhibition is about providing a creative space for young emerging artists to test their practice,” explains VAM Events and Exhibitions Coordinator Eldiana Begovic. “We’re pleased to be reaching out to emerging artists who are currently experimenting with traditional and new media, who want to exhibit their work to a new audience.”DEADLINE TO APPLY IS FRIDAY, JANUARY 20, 2017 at 5 pm.
