COME SING WITH US: MASTERWORKS OF OAKVILLE CHORUS & AUDITIONING NEW CHOIR MEMBERS. Masterworks of Oakville Chorus & Orchestra is getting ready to embark on their new season. At this time, we are actively looking for new choristers and orchestra members to join us for our fall concert. Choir rehearsals being Saturday September 24thand are from 10 am – 1 pm. Orchestra rehearsals begin on November 20th. Late this fall, we will kick off the holiday season with our concert performances of Bach’s CHRISTMAS ORATORIO Parts IV, V and VI on Saturday November 26th and Sunday November 27th at the beautiful St. Andrew Church in downtown Oakville. Our concerts are highly anticipated cultural events and are broadcast by TVCogeco. Masterworks is proud to entertain some of the largest audiences in Oakville, regularly performing to 800-1000 people over a concert weekend. Call for Auction items. The Museums of Mississauga are collaborating with the Ontario Museum Association on their annual conference on Nov 2-4 in Mississauga. The theme is “Towards the Future: Diversity and Inclusion”. They are looking to the artistic community for handmade artwork to help them with their silent auction. This year the silent Auction will focus on the diverse talents of people from across Ontario. Our museum community has so much creativity, let’s see your talents shine in this year’s Silent auction. Monitor 12: South Asian Experimental Film + Video: Monitor 12 is dedicated to the presentation of experimental short films and videos by/and/or about South Asians from Canada and around the world. We invite independent and innovative short films and videos that explore the aesthetic and form of the moving image and its relation to narrative. Monitor 12 encourages new, experimental and risk-taking work that challenges the viewer’s active engagement. John Victor Lennon Singers-Songwriters Recording Contest will take place on November 12, 2016 at the Maja Prentice Theatre at 7:30pm. Please note that only selected contestants who sign-up on-line will be allowed to audition and will be submitted to the online audience voting ballot box. Selected contestants must be able to perform songs that will be selected by our online review panel. All selected contestants must arrive at the live auditioning before 7:30 pm. The judging panel will be presiding at 8:30 pm. Only online sign-up contestants will audition in the order that they signed up. Sign up now. The best three selected contestants out of Canada will perform at the grand finally in NYC. The contest deadline for all entries has been extended to Oct. 8th, 2016. Let’s Make Good Productions has partnered with Toronto Jobs and Modern Mississauga to create The Mississauga Music Expo which will be held on Saturday October 1st at Clarke Hall. The trade show features exhibitors and sponsors who would give attendees information about the history of music, learning a new instrument, renting or buying new equipment and more. Collaborative Fall Exhibition: How do you remember a loved one? This summer at the Museums we are encouraging community members to engage with us in the exhibition making process for a fall exhibition. The public will explore the universal and culturally rich themes of loss and mourning. Working together we will share our rituals and customs with one another to produce a riveting exhibition. The exhibition will include storytelling, creative responses, and artifacts on loan from residents.
