Call for nominations: Do you know a young person in Mississauga who is contributing to the arts in our community? Nominations are now open for the Living Arts Centre’s Ron Lenyk Inspiring Youth Arts Award. The awards support, foster and celebrate young talent in Mississauga. Up to two $1000 awards will be presented to individuals in two age categories (ages 12-17 and 18-25) who have contributed to the growing art scene within the Mississauga and have begun to establish themselves and make an impact in their chosen field. Excellence in literary arts, media arts, performing arts and visual arts will be considered. Nomination deadline: Friday April 28, 2017, 5:00 pm. Walter Carsen Prize for Excellence in the Performing Arts Award. This prize recognizes the highest level of artistic excellence and distinguished career achievement by a Canadian professional artist in music, theatre or dance. This year the award is in music. CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS – WATER … AN OUTDOOR WALL SCULPTURE 2017.The Elora Centre for the Arts is celebrating its 15th anniversary during this Canada 150 year. We have obtained a grant through the Ontario 150 Community Celebration Fund, and we are dedicating funds for a wall sculpture submission and an installation celebration on July 1, 2017.The theme is WATER, and any Ontario artists/sculptors who have a link to Wellington County are eligible to make a submission. The award to the selected artist will be $5000, payable upon receipt and successful installation of the wall sculpture. Applicants must: Be graduating or have graduated from a full-time theatre training program within the last 3 years (and not participated previously in Next Generation Showcase); Currently reside, or plan to reside, in Ontario and are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada; Presently do not have an agent.
