John Victor Lennon Singers-Songwriters Recording Contest will take place on November 12, 2016 at the Maja Prentice Theatre at 7:30pm. Please note that only selected contestants who sign-up on-line will be allowed to audition and will be submitted to the online audience voting ballot box. Selected contestants must be able to perform songs that will be selected by our online review panel. All selected contestants must arrive at the live auditioning before 7:30 pm. The judging panel will be presiding at 8:30 pm. Only online sign-up contestants will audition in the order that they signed up. Sign up now. The best three selected contestants out of Canada will perform at the grand finally in NYC. The contest deadline for all entries has been extended to Oct. 30th, 2016. Mississauga Symphony Orchestra youth concerto competition deadline for applications is December 14. “The MSO Youth Concerto Competition is a fantastic opportunity for young musicians under the age of 21 to further their development in the field of solo performance. Cash prizes and performance opportunities with the MSO and MSYO will be awarded to our finalists. The 4th Annual Youth Concerto Competition is divided into three different instrument categories:Orchestral Winds/Brass/Percussion; Strings; Piano. Prizes:1st Place Winner: $1000 cash award, performance with the MSO; 2nd Place Winner: $500 cash award & performance with the MSYO; 3rd Place Winner: $250 cash award & soloist performance with the MSYO. The Competition is an educational tool which is overseen by renowned educators that creates artistic emulation between peers. Nominations for the Government of Ontario’s Premier’s Awards for Excellence in the Arts are open. These awards are an excellent opportunity to recognize the leadership, innovation, creativity and talent that Ontario’s professional artists and arts organizations bring to communities across the province.The awards are conferred in two categories: an individual artist award of $35,000 and an arts organization award of $50,000. Nominations are due December 1, 2016. Your nomination package must be postmarked by Canada Post or a courier company on or before the deadline. COME SING WITH US: MASTERWORKS OF OAKVILLE CHORUS & AUDITIONING NEW CHOIR MEMBERS. Masterworks of Oakville Chorus & Orchestra is getting ready to embark on their new season. At this time, we are actively looking for new choristers and orchestra members to join us for our fall concert. Choir rehearsals being Saturday September 24thand are from 10 am – 1 pm. Orchestra rehearsals begin on November 20th. Late this fall, we will kick off the holiday season with our concert performances of Bach’s CHRISTMAS ORATORIO Parts IV, V and VI on Saturday November 26th and Sunday November 27th at the beautiful St. Andrew Church in downtown Oakville. Our concerts are highly anticipated cultural events and are broadcast by TVCogeco. Masterworks is proud to entertain some of the largest audiences in Oakville, regularly performing to 800-1000 people over a concert weekend.
