In celebration of Canada 150, Spectrum SQ and other 20VIC managed properties are inviting local Canadian artists to create one-of-a-kind installations that will be featured in various malls across the country. These installations will celebrate our country’s 150th birthday and are to be reflective of Canada’s past, present and/or future. Spectrum SQ is looking for a local artist from Mississauga’s creative community to design a significant installation which will be on display at Spectrum SQ for two months leading up to Canada Day celebrations, and possibly permanently into the future. The installation will be designed by the artist, and will be built and installed by Spectrum SQ’s company of choice. The installation will serve as a focal point and Canada 150 landmark at Spectrum SQ as well as a photo backdrop for a Canada 150 “selfie” contest. Visitors will be invited to take a photo with the installation, post it to their personal social channels for a chance to win prizes. Deadline for submissions is March 10th, 2017.

Queen Gallery is seeking submissions for our upcoming group show, NOROUZ to celebrate the first day of spring and the beginning of the year in the Persian calendar. Norouz, meaning “New Day” in Persian, is the traditional celebration of the New Year in many parts of the world, including Iran, Turkey, parts of Central Asia, South Asia, Northwestern China, the Crimea and some ethnic groups in Albania, Bosnia, Kosovo and the Republic of Macedonia. We welcome all the artists to submit high resolution jpegs of their work for this year’s Norouz group show. The deadline will be March 1st, 2017 when our curator will select the best work. Artist statements along with display-ready artwork will be required by March 11th, 2017 for those pieces selected. A participation fee will be required of those selected artists in order to help pay for advertising. Participation fee is $60.00 (for first submission) + $5.00 (for each additional work). CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS – WATER … AN OUTDOOR WALL SCULPTURE 2017.The Elora Centre for the Arts is celebrating its 15th anniversary during this Canada 150 year. We have obtained a grant through the Ontario 150 Community Celebration Fund, and we are dedicating funds for a wall sculpture submission and an installation celebration on July 1, 2017.The theme is WATER, and any Ontario artists/sculptors who have a link to Wellington County are eligible to make a submission. The award to the selected artist will be $5000, payable upon receipt and successful installation of the wall sculpture. DiverseCity 150 will be one component of the Windsor Jewish Community Centre’s celebration of Canada’s 150th anniversary. The exhibition will celebrate the diversity of our country, our province, our city, and even the great diversity found within our own Jewish Community.We are seeking submissions around the theme of diversity: works that honour and express culture and cultures as a way to share our diverse experiences. Deadline for submissions is April 1, 2017, and works in all media are encouraged. An entry fee of $25.00 must accompany all submissions. Work must be completed within the last two years. All works can be offered for sale, with 75% of the proceeds going to the artist.
