Monitor 12: South Asian Experimental Film + Video: Monitor 12 is dedicated to the presentation of experimental short films and videos by/and/or about South Asians from Canada and around the world. We invite independent and innovative short films and videos that explore the aesthetic and form of the moving image and its relation to narrative. Monitor 12 encourages new, experimental and risk-taking work that challenges the viewer’s active engagement. John Victor Lennon Singers-Songwriters Recording Contest will take place on November 12, 2016 at the Maja Prentice Theatre at 7:30pm. Please note that only selected contestants who sign-up on-line will be allowed to audition and will be submitted to the online audience voting ballot box. Selected contestants must be able to perform songs that will be selected by our online review panel. All selected contestants must arrive at the live auditioning before 7:30 pm. The judging panel will be presiding at 8:30 pm. Only online sign-up contestants will audition in the order that they signed up. Sign up now. The best three selected contestants out of Canada will perform at the grand finally in NYC. The contest deadline for all entries has been extended to Oct. 8th, 2016. Request for Proposals for an Artist Design, Fabrication and Installation of a Re-Purposed Pylon sign. Lamenza Corporation wishes to commission an artist or artist team to develop, fabricate and install a design for an existing pylon sign that is to be re-purposed as a public art piece. Artists proposals should highlight the building’s new name, Co-Lab Mississauga. The winning design should also incorporate a design for the logo. Music Expo Mississauga is looking for music and exhibitors! Let’s Make Good Productions has partnered with Toronto Jobs and Modern Mississauga to create The Mississauga Music Expo which will be held on Saturday October 1st at Clarke Hall. Check out the website at www.musicexpo.ca. We are looking for singer-songwriters/bands to perform and exhibitors to take part of the event. The event will have two components:10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. – Trade show/Speakers. The trade show features exhibitors and sponsors who would give attendees information about the history of music, learning a new instrument, renting or buying new equipment and more. We will also have speakers talking about topics that are all about music throughout the day! Admission is FREE for attendees! Early bird exhibitor tables start at only $99 plus HST for the day! Collaborative Fall Exhibition: How do you remember a loved one? This summer at the Museums we are encouraging community members to engage with us in the exhibition making process for a fall exhibition. The public will explore the universal and culturally rich themes of loss and mourning. Working together we will share our rituals and customs with one another to produce a riveting exhibition. The exhibition will include storytelling, creative responses, and artifacts on loan from residents.
