Jay Boehmer






Canadian drummer, composer and bandleader Jay Boehmer (BEE-mer) has been performing in the Toronto music scene since 1990. Jay’s CD’s (Don’t Look Back & Autumn Afternoon) have been played on CBC national radio, Jazz FM91 and many Canadian campus radio stations. Jay Boehmer Jazz has also been featured on CBC television and City TV.

Jay spent the 90’s as part of Toronto’s Queen Street scene recording and performing with numerous bands including Dr. Minz and the Chronic Harmonic, Ballyhoo and Kyp Harness.

Jay has also played in over 40 theatre productions including shows for Drayton Entertainment, Theatre Aquarius (Hamilton), the Stirling Festival Theatre and the Georgian Theatre Festival (Meaford).

From 2005 to 2011, the Jay Boehmer Trio performed regularly at Toronto’s Old Mill Inn with singer Michelle Berting. The Jay Boehmer Band was also the House Band at the Old Mill for many tribute acts including The Platters, The Coasters, The Temptations, The Supremes and The Marvelettes.

In addition to Jay’s work on his show Broadway Goes Jazz, he performs with country sweethearts Dirty Dishes and the Mississauga Big Band Jazz Ensemble. The Jay Boehmer Trio continues to perform in clubs and for corporate and private parties.
