After-school open mic at Malton Community Centre

We are getting ready to host an after school open mic on Wednesday, March 11th, 3:30 – 5 pm.  Calling all singers, musicians and spoken word artists! City of Toronto Cultural Hotspot Signature Partnership ProjectPROJECT OVERVIEW:Milkweed Collective will run KRE-A-TIV U-TURN from May through September 2015 in the Cultural Hotspot (West) neighbourhoods of Etobicoke.  We are seeking eight (8) emerging artists (all disciplines), 18 to 25 years of age, who will learn to facilitate Milkweed’s Exploring Creativity in Depth® (ECiD) program for children and youth. MAC Coffeehouse looking for its next artist: 

Every other Monday for the next 6 months, we’ve got space for artists to showcase their work at Studio 89. MAC will have artists of different disciplines display their work and/or perform for 1-2 hours to entertain guests and promote MAC. We’re accepting painters, dancers, singers, and artists of all forms! Exhibitions will be starting mid-November, and run for 1-2 hours in the evening. Contact Aida at to sign up for a slot. Artists needed for Insight TV!

Insight TV is a new social justice show on Rogers. The producers are looking for artists that they can feature and enjoy, that will help connect to their audience, and make a difference for people! This project is all about reaching people and empowering them. And arts does that in a way that sometimes cannot be done in other ways. Due to small studio space, they are looking for a solo act or a high quality video clip. The time slot allotted is 5 minutes. Tapings will be on Wednesday evenings from 7:30-9:30 at the Brampton studio

Share the Love…With Your City

The City of Mississauga Public Art Program seeks to commission up to 11 artists as part of the Toronto 2015 Pan/Parapan American Games IGNITE event. This temporary public art initiative is intended to ignite the spirit of the Pan Am Games through a celebration of art, sport and culture.

The community of Salt Spring Island, British Columbia and the Salt Spring Arts Council is proud to present the first Salt Spring National Art Prize or SSNAP.
This exciting biannual event, scheduled at Salt Spring Island’s historic Mahon Hall from September 25 to October 26, 2015, is offering 2D and 3D artists the opportunity to compete for over $24,000 in prize money.
All Canadian artists over the age of 19 are eligible to compete, with the winners presented at the Awards Night, on October 24, 2015.

Living Arts Centre – Call for Submissions Community Artworks

Submission Deadline:  Monday, March 2, 2015

The Living Arts Centre would like to invite artists from Mississauga to submit two-dimensional and three-dimensional artworks for consideration for rotating display spaces throughout the building including(but not limited to) corporate meeting rooms, hallway corridor, and LIVE restaurant.  Works by artists at all stages of their professional careers will be considered.  Artworks submitted for consideration should represent a body of work with focus on a particular theme or set of concerns.  Artworks will be for sale while on display.  Works to be available for display for a minimum of 3 months with the Living Arts Centre’s option to extend up to 6 months.

Art Battle:

Art Battle is looking for painters to participate in the live competition.  The Living Arts Centre has partnered with Art Battle Canada to host regional events in the form of live painting competitions throughout their 6th season. Art Battle events provide an opportunity for Mississauga’s visual artists to network, create in a public showcase as well as watch the creative process unfold by their peers.

Theme: Landscapes, daily life and sports
Exhibition: The best photos will be selected by a jury and exhibited in the Art Gallery of Mississauga, a gallery in Toronto and the Hispanic Association website’s virtual gallery from June 25 – august 15, 2015.
Submission Guidelines: The picture must be taken in the photographer’s home country and the photographer must own the rights.  Maximum of three images, each in HD 300dpi and JPG format. The exhibition is open to Amateur and Professional photographers. Each image must have a title and a short description (50 words max). Each submission must include the photographer’s name, country of origin, phone number, address and email.
At the end of the exhibition, the framed photographs will be donated to cultural and educational institutions in Ontario.  Photos will not be for sale.  The organizers will use the photos only for promotional purposes on the website, media outreach and social media.
Studio 89 is hosting live music every Saturday night, and they’re looking for artists.

Call for MAC Ambassadors! The Mississauga Arts Council is looking for arts and culture lovers to spread their enthusiasm across the city while also promoting MAC and Limelight through our Ambassador Program. Being an Ambassador means attending events like Open Mic Nights, arts workshops, exhibits, and concerts to create a positive environment, represent and promote the Arts Council, distribute MAC swag, and promote membership sales.
