MAC Coffeehouse looking for its next artist: 

Every other Monday for the next 6 months, we’ve got space for artists to showcase their work at Studio 89. MAC will have artists of different disciplines display their work and/or perform for 1-2 hours to entertain guests and promote MAC. We’re accepting painters, dancers, singers, and artists of all forms! Exhibitions will be starting mid-November, and run for 1-2 hours in the evening. Contact Aida at to sign up for a slot. Artists needed for Insight TV!

Insight TV is a new social justice show on Rogers. The producers are looking for artists that they can feature and enjoy, that will help connect to their audience, and make a difference for people! This project is all about reaching people and empowering them. And arts does that in a way that sometimes cannot be done in other ways. Due to small studio space, they are looking for a solo act or a high quality video clip. The time slot allotted is 5 minutes. Tapings will be on Wednesday evenings from 7:30-9:30 at the Brampton studio

Attention all Canadian Artists, Galleries and Art Groups: 

The community of Salt Spring Island, British Columbia and the Salt Spring Arts Council is proud to present the first Salt Spring National Art Prize or SSNAP.

This exciting biannual event, scheduled at Salt Spring Island’s historic Mahon Hall from September 25 to October 26, 2015, is offering 2D and 3D artists the opportunity to compete for over $24,000 in prize money.

All Canadian artists over the age of 19 are eligible to compete, with the winners presented at the Awards Night, on October 24, 2015.

The call for submissions is from January 15 to May 31, 2015, with details and entry forms on the website.

Join Oakville’s premier choral group, dedicated to performing the great choral works of the Western tradition

Masterworks  invites community members from Oakville and surrounding areas to audition to be part of this exciting and sophisticated local music group.

Join one of the largest performing arts groups in Oakville – we regularly perform with a chorus of more than 80 voices and a full orchestra that varies in size, depending on the needs of the piece being performed.

Masterworks chorus rehearses on Saturday mornings in Oakville, and rehearsals for our spring concert begin on January 17th.

Living Arts Centre – Call for Submissions Community Artworks

Submission Deadline:  Monday, March 2, 2015

The Living Arts Centre would like to invite artists from Mississauga to submit two-dimensional and three-dimensional artworks for consideration for rotating display spaces throughout the building including(but not limited to) corporate meeting rooms, hallway corridor, and LIVE restaurant.  Works by artists at all stages of their professional careers will be considered.  Artworks submitted for consideration should represent a body of work with focus on a particular theme or set of concerns.  Artworks will be for sale while on display.  Works to be available for display for a minimum of 3 months with the Living Arts Centre’s option to extend up to 6 months.

The Chilkoot Trail Artist Residency Program  is looking for an outdoor enthusiast and/or a visual artist.

This unique artist residency is a chance to hike the historic Chilkoot Trail from Alaska into Canada and make art.

Theatre Ontario’s Michael Spence Award for Contribution to Community Theatre is presented annually to an individual for his/her outstanding contribution to community theatre in his/her region over a sustained time.

The award is presented to an individual in the region that is hosting that year’s Theatre Ontario Festival.

In 2015, that is the Central Ontario region.

The nomination deadline is January 30.

Art Battle:

On your application, choose to compete in Headwaters Region, Ontario!

Art Battle is live competitive painting. Painters create the best work they can in 20 minutes. As they work, patrons move around the easels, closely watching the creative process. The medium is acrylic paint and the tools allowed are brushes, palette knives or any non-mechanical implements. At the end of the round, the audience votes democratically for their favourite painting and bids in silent auction to take the work home.

Participants compete in one of 3 preliminary painting competitions at the Alton Mill Arts Centre which culminate in a Headwaters Region Art Battle Championship. The victor moves on to the Regional Championship in Mississauga, where they have a chance to compete in the National Championships.

Theme: Landscapes, daily life and sports
Exhibition: The best photos will be selected by a jury and exhibited in the Art Gallery of Mississauga, a gallery in Toronto and the Hispanic Association website’s virtual gallery from June 25 – august 15, 2015.
Submission Guidelines: The picture must be taken in the photographer’s home country and the photographer must own the rights.  Maximum of three images, each in HD 300dpi and JPG format. The exhibition is open to Amateur and Professional photographers. Each image must have a title and a short description (50 words max). Each submission must include the photographer’s name, country of origin, phone number, address and email.
At the end of the exhibition, the framed photographs will be donated to cultural and educational institutions in Ontario.  Photos will not be for sale.  The organizers will use the photos only for promotional purposes on the website, media outreach and social media.

The Art Gallery of Mississauga is an artist recommender for OAC Exhibition Assistance Grants  Do you have an upcoming exhibition and are you looking for financial assistance? The AGM is in its second year as a recommender for OAC Exhibition Assistance Grants! The Ontario Arts Council’s Exhibition Assistance Program assists visual artists, craft artists and media artists with costs directly related to presenting their work in confirmed, upcoming, public exhibitions. The AGM serves as a disburser of Ontario Arts Council Exhibition Assistance grants. The Gallery accepts exhibition assistance applications from both Peel Region and Mississauga based artists who have confirmed exhibitions, and make recommendations for funding amount to the OAC. Call for MAC Ambassadors! The Mississauga Arts Council is looking for arts and culture lovers to spread their enthusiasm across the city while also promoting MAC and Limelight through our Ambassador Program. Being an Ambassador means attending events like Open Mic Nights, arts workshops, exhibits, and concerts to create a positive environment, represent and promote the Arts Council, distribute MAC swag, and promote membership sales.
