Call for Artists! The Regional Youth Roundtable is a youth led organization supported by the Trillium Foundation aimed at mobilizing youth-led organizations, and better including youth from minority groups. A big component of our campaign involves working with disability awareness & inclusion. The Media Campaign aims at targeting the issues of minority youth in Peel and bringing them to light through a series of web videos with the goal of raising awareness. We are currently looking for a Director of Photography, a Creative Director, and a Chief Film Editor. COME SING WITH MASTERWORKS! Registration for Masterworks of Oakville Chorus & Orchestra is on SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 13 at 9 am. St. Simons Anglican Church, 1450 Litchfield Rd, Oakville. Come join Oakville’s premiere choir and orchestra.  We perform the great works of the Western classical tradition, and for the last two years we have been broadcast on TVCogeco as well.  The most challenging works that are seldom performed outside of major metropolitan areas.  We regularly perform to audiences of 400-700 per concert! Last year, we were invited to perform at the prestigious Koerner Hall to an audience of 1100. This season we are performing BACH’S CHRISTMAS ORATORIO on Saturday November 22 and Sunday November 23rd. In the spring we are performing STRAVINSKY SYMPHONY OF PSALMS, POULENC GLORIA and DEMUYNCK ALERION on Saturday May 23 and Sunday May 24 (not the long weekend). Call for Artists! The Ontario Heritage Trust has launched the Doris McCarthy Artist-in-Residence Centre at Fool’s Paradise, the former home and studio of Canadian artist Doris McCarthy located in Toronto.  Professional visual artists, musicians, and writers may apply for short term residencies to live and work on their creative disciplines at this serene and picturesque site overlooking the Scarborough Bluffs. In keeping with Doris’ wishes when she donated the property to the Ontario Heritage Trust, we have converted Fool’s Paradise into an Artist-in-Residence Centre. The Centre embraces the multi-disciplinary nature of the arts, strives to demonstrate the positive and restorative influence of landscape and the environment, and fosters excellence among contemporary Canadian artists, musicians and writers. Auditions – Youth Performance Ensemble Auditions for Sirius Theatrical Company (Etobicoke):  Sept. 10, 11, 12, 2014, Course Begins:  Sept. 25, 2014 through May 2015. Acceptance into this advanced acting program is by AUDITION ONLY. A full year commitment from September 2014 through May 2015 is required. The Youth Performance Ensemble is a core group of youth, 14 to 17 years of age, who are interested in developing strong performance and acting skills. The group meets weekly on Thursday evenings from 4:30 – 6:30 pm in the Sirius Theatrical Studio in south Etobicoke. The course instructor is Artistic Director, Heather Dick. Because we want to challenge our students to stretch their performance skills, their training in voice, acting technique, body movement, improvisation and character development will be applied directly to the rehearsal and performance of two productions, one in December and one in the spring of 2014. The December production will be a traditional comic MUMMERS show which will include big characters and clowning. The spring production will be SHAKESPEARE SHORTS, challenging scenes from some of Shakespeare’s most famous plays. Call for Submissions from Mississauga Artists – The Living Arts Centre would like to invite artists from Mississauga to submit two-dimensional & three-dimensional artworks for consideration for rotating display spaces throughout the building including (but not limited to)corporate meeting rooms, hallway corridors, and LIVE restaurant. Works by artists at all stages of their professional careers will be considered. Artworks submitted for consideration should represent a body of work with focus on a particular theme or set of concerns. Artworks will be for sale while on display. Works to be available for display for a minimum of 3 months with the Living Arts Centre’s option to extend up to 6 months.
