Stephanie Kurganov is a sixteen-year-old vocal major at Cawthra Park secondary school. She feels as if with everything going on, music is the only thing that can keep her calm and stress-free. Stephanie decided to go to school for music ever since she discovered her talent. Living almost an hour away from her school didn’t stop her from getting closer to achieving her dreams. With hard work and discipline, she was able to maintain a steady schedule involving her getting up at 5:00 every morning to get to school for 8:30. This really shows her dedication to the program and the distance she is willing to travel to get to where she wants to be in life.

Emily Huang, on the other hand, is a sixteen year old local at Cawthra Park Secondary School. She wasn’t able to get in to the arts program at her school due to the late start she had attending Cawthra, but she still demonstrates her passion for playing piano and doesn’t let that get in the way of her dreams. She has been playing the piano from the age of five. Part of the reason she continues to play, other than the fact that she enjoys making music, is because her parents push her to the best that she can be. Although having parents that expect nothing but greatness from you can be stressful at times, the piano calms her nerves when she has trouble focusing and she is able to push through.

Both of these ladies have one thing in common: they are able to use their talents to cope with the stress of high school, and they both continue to achieve greatness even with everything going on in their lives.
