‘3 Seconds Divorce’, a documentary by Mississauga based filmmaker, Shazia Javed, is now streaming on Netflix.  “I am very glad that the film is now available on Netflix as our goal has always been to reach as many people as possible with this story, and now the film is accessible to a large audience worldwide”, said Javed who won the MARTY this year for the Digital Media Arts in Established Category.

‘3 Seconds Divorce’, tells the story of Muslim women in India who fought for a ban on instant, oral divorce. Commonly called triple-talaq this kind of divorce can only be given by men and leaves women in very vulnerable situations. The documentary won the Audience Choice award at Reelworld Film Festival last year and has since been screening internationally at festivals and in community settings for discussions.
