The City of Mississauga Public Art Program invites Mississauga-based artists and illustrators to submit applications to create an artistic interpretation of their neighbourhood, shown through a map.
Selected artists will create artwork that reflects on their artistic practice and captures the spirit and stories of Mississauga. The selected artist(s) will exhibit their Map of Mississauga in a free online exhibit and through Mississauga Culture’s social media platforms.
This digital public art project will allow viewers to explore artists’ personal relationship with their neighbourhoods and learn about new areas of the city. We hope to capture the spirit of Mississauga and build meaningful communal experiences.
This project is open to professional artists and illustrators residing in Mississauga, who self-identify as being in financial need due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Artists will receive an honorarium of $550 for participating in this online exhibit.
Applications will be accepted and assessed on a first-come, first-serve basis.
