Mississauga, like the world around us, has been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mississauga Arts Council, Heritage Mississauga, Mississauga Writers Group and Peel Weekly News have all joined together to start up a new writing contest this summer!

So often when something major happens, we write about it later or never. Now is the time to write about how people in Mississauga are surviving the pandemic.

In 500 words or less, tell us your story. Make it part of our history. Select stories will be published in Peel Weekly News, saved in the archives of Heritage Mississauga and eligible for three cash prizes!

Mississauga Arts Council is offering three prizes; 1st place $250, 2nd place $150, and 3rd place $100. Mississauga Writers Group is producing its annual anthology where your story could be published for everyone to see. Peel Weekly News will be featuring these stories during the month of July and August.

Eligibility

  • The submitter must be a Mississauga resident
