The Mississauga Arts Council invites Indigenous visual artists to submit design proposals to wrap an Alectra utility box with imagery of Mississauga’s rich Indigenous history and community. The purpose of this wrap is to create a vibrant and visually pleasing heritage-inspired representation of Indigenous culture in Mississauga.
The selected artist is required to develop a topical design to fit the box measurements as provided. The location of the Alectra utility box and measurements as well as a template will be provided.
Illustrator or Photoshop Design Experience Required.
Artists will need to work with an illustrator template to create their design. Final designs need to be vectored graphics and/or high-quality images.
Templates will include guidelines, bleed, graphic placement restrictions, and measurements. This will ensure when printing your design nothing important is cut off or blocked from view.
If the selected artist can only provide the concept and imagery but does not have the Illustrator or Photoshop knowledge they will be awarded a design fee in the amount of $1200 and connected with a graphic designer to work with to transfer the illustration/design into the required vector format.
If the selected artist is versed in Illustrator and/or Photoshop and can digitally transpose their design into the appropriate vector file they will be awarded a fee in the amount of $2000.
The selected artist is encouraged to sign their name and required to incorporate logos from Alectra, Mississauga Arts Council and others as may be relevant, which will be provided. The overall design concept and location of artist info and supplied logos must be approved by Alectra and Mississauga Arts Council.
Please see the above images of the Alectra utility box that will be wrapped as part of this call for submissions and an image of a previously wrapped box.
