Arts For Mental Health

Inform | Collaborate | Inspire

The Arts for Mental health (A4MH) Conference will bring frontline healthcare practitioners together with artists and arts groups, to explore how best to integrate the proven benefits of creative experiences into healthcare treatment options, for the most common and treatable forms of mental illness.

The purpose of our conference is to inform, collaborate, and inspire by sharing knowledge and experience while building partnerships between healthcare professionals and arts organizations.

Conference objectives

  • Increase awareness of the efficacy of the arts in health and social care by sharing recent research
  • Explore the importance of the arts in health as a cost-saving opportunity for the overall healthcare system

Expected Outcomes:

  • Shared understanding and actions to advance the role of arts in healthcare
  • Planning and developing policy recommendation for a social prescription for arts-based programs, aimed at patient recovery through a Pilot Program
  • White Paper from Pilot Program for broader provincial policy to expand Arts of Health beyond Mississauga
  • Identify partners to carry the Arts for Health Initiative forward

Admission is free, by invite only, with a target audience of approximately 150 participants from organizations and art groups providing arts-based programming, healthcare organizations and professionals, individuals with lived experience of the value of art for mental wellbeing and proposed Malton Community Hub stakeholders.
