Work Location: For the immediate future, this will be a remote-work position due to COVID-19. Our office is located at City Hall, 300 City Centre Dr Suite 1055, Mississauga, ON L5B 3C9. Should restrictions lift and it is safe to return to the office all of our staff will return to work at our office.

Organization Description

The Mississauga Arts Council is a registered charity that actively promotes the arts to 21,000 subscribers, advocates for an arts community that includes over 100 arts organizations and proactively works with 500 individual artists. MAC acts as a catalyst to create opportunities for artists to exhibit and work and to connect artists of all practices with the public and each other. MAC produces the Mississauga Arts Awards recognizing outstanding creative achievements. We were established in 1981 by City Resolution, as a registered charity governed by a Board of Directors. We aim to create a Mississauga that is a vibrant, creative community where arts and culture thrive.

Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a creative and ambitious individual to join our talented team and make a difference in the vibrant arts community in Mississauga as our new Digital Navigator.
The Digital Navigator will enable, coach, and assist artists with building their digital literacy and to help them take advantage of all the digital opportunities in our new virtual arts hub and marketplace. This person will meet and engage with members in both coach and instructor capacities, to help artists market themselves and attract new audiences, followers, and customers. The Digital Navigator will be a content creator, creating individualized communications and multimedia content for our new online hub to showcase our artist members. This person will also devise, curate, and promote digital learning opportunities to replace previously offered in-person training and networking programming.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development of a Mississauga Arts Council online hub site for local artists.
  • Coach artists on how best to communicate, market online, and sell their artworks.
  • Meet one-on-one with artist members, instructing them on how to take advantage of our online hub.
  • Generate, produce, edit, publish, and input content (text, images, graphic design, video, and photography) for artists members for our online hub.
  • Curate, produce, and edit video content with artist members to input into the online hub.
  • Write, edit, and publish communications with artist members for input into the online hub.
  • Organize, program, and promote digital learning opportunities for artists members.
  • Collaborate with other team members to enhance relationships with members and community partners.

Secondary tasks may include: Attending member events and potentially meeting artist members on site (depending on COVID-19 restrictions).

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education (university or college) in Communications, Digital Media, Marketing, Public Relations, and/or related fields.
  • Experience cultivating and stewarding relationships across public, private, non-profit, and or cultural sectors (preferably with artist engagement/relationship management experience).
  • Experience working in a Communications, Multimedia, Marketing or related field.
  • Knowledge of digital marketing and a good understanding of major marketing channels.
  • Experience creating multimedia content, including videography, photography, and graphic design.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Knowledge of web content management and WordPress.
  • Experience coaching, tutoring or mentoring.
  • Excellent writing, editing (text/photo/video), presentation, and communication skills.
  • Excellent project management, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work successfully as part of a team and individually.
    Positive attitude, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask with independent organizational ability.
  • Reliable transportation to the MAC office and various locations in Mississauga, pending COVID-19 restrictions.
