Immigration Through My Gulabi Chashma Art Exhibition

May 16 @ 7:00 am - 9:00 pm

Exhibiting artists, Myrna D’Souza, Mubina Asif, Rubina Lewis, Vibha Malhotra, Khaula Mazhar, Saima Naveed, Syeda Asia Owais and Thaniath Siddiqui share tales and emotions through their beautiful art.
The exhibition will explore immigration through different artists’ frames of reference, from South Asia to Canada and even from Canada to South Asia. As women of South Asian background such an enormous life-changing decision as immigration is usually taken by the men of the household, either a father or a husband, and much of the ensuing turmoil is left to deal with by the women. So they don their rose tinted glasses (gulabi chashma) to help them get through the whirlwind, help make it easier for their children, parents or siblings whatever the case may be, to see the positive side of uprooting their familiar lifestyle for one of uncertainty. Come experience immigration through our stories! Join us for the Opening Reception on Thursday, May 16th at 7 pm. The exhibition is free, refreshments will be served.
