We can find a way: QTBIPOC performance night
April 26 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Join us on Friday, April 26th for the launch and first event of the re: placement, can we find a way? public programming series, curated by Anu Radha Verma.
We Can Find A Way celebrates the ways in which QTBIPOC artists take (up) space through brilliance and resilience. This space-taking is especially important in the face of exclusion and erasure. The artists work across disciplines: Manghoe Lassi and Tifa Wine are drag queens with growing followings; Saadia Khan and Almasi are poets who tackle social justice. We are honoured to have Sharan Dhaliwal join us from the UK – she is a writer and editor of Burnt Roti, a platform created to give South Asians a voice, while breaking stigmas around mental and sexual health. This event is a collaboration with QTBIPOC sauga, a grassroots gathering of queer and trans, Black, Indigenous and people of colour communities in Peel.
Before the performances begin, come through for refreshments, a chance to view the Public Volumes exhibition, and for a celebration of the public programming series. The Curator will be facilitating a chat, accompanied by chai.
