Mississauga Arts Awards | MARTYS 2021

Winning a MARTY Award is a symbol of Excellence in the Arts

MAC Celebrated the Incredible Talent and Achievements in the Arts in Mississauga with a Virtual Celebration on Tuesday, June 29, 2021.

Watch The 26th MARTYS on MAC’s YouTube Channel.

The MARTYS, also known as the Mississauga Arts Awards, are a distinguished and elegant red carpet event recognizing excellence in the arts in Mississauga. It’s been said that civilizations are measured by what they Celebrate and in Mississauga, celebrating outstanding works of creativity across all arts disciplines has been MAC’s honour since 1994.

Who gets an award? Finalists are chosen based on criteria demonstrating excellence in their work. The Mississauga Arts Council also recognizes the contributions made to our thriving arts community as part of its mandate to build a great city through cultivating the arts.

Who attends the event? Artists, including nominees and their family members and friends are present, as well as prominent Mississauga politicians, celebrities  and business leaders. We also see arts patrons, volunteers, and so many engaged art lovers in the community. The cocktail area is lively and our emerging artists love to meet the movers and shakers in the city.

Congratulations to the 2021 Winners!

Congratulations to our 2021 Community Award Winners!

The Board of Directors of the Mississauga Arts Council deliberated on its three Community Awards weighing some outstanding contributors to the history of the arts in Mississauga.
For their unwavering commitment to the arts in our city, and financial support of creative initiatives, events, and infrastructure that add to the quality of life in this community and for the entire city, Port Credit Community Foundation is awarded the Laurie Pallett Patron of the Arts Award for 2021.
For her abundance of volunteerism for many Mississauga-based organizations, and the numerous boards, committees, and fundraising activities that have benefited from her experience, knowledge, and dedicated contributions, Mary Miskic is awarded the Hazel McCallion Volunteer of the Year Award.
For his tremendous contributions over 40 years, as a musician, recording producer, teacher, mentor, and advocate for the next generation of musicians, Anthony Panacci is awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award.
The Digital Arts jury recommended a Special Award for Outstanding Community Connection to be presented to The Tom and Rick Show. Musicians Tom Barlow and Rickferd Van Dyk gave an entertaining voice to Port Credit’s professional music community when the times were the toughest last year, there was time for music, fun, and conversation on the weekly show. Congratulations Tom and Rick!
