26th Annual MARTY Awards Shine a Light on Deserving Artists – Peel Weekly News

“‘It’s been two long years since the leading lights in the arts communities gathered to celebrate, and recognize our most outstanding performers – and I’ve missed you!’ Mississauga Mayor Bonnie Crombie announced in the introduction to the 26th annual Mississauga Arts Awards (MARTYs), aired virtually on June 29. ‘Thank you, for your inspiring talents that enrich our city every day. Congratulations we salute you, we need you, and we thank you for your resilience!’

“Mississauga’s arts community came together to celebrate the greatest achievements in the arts in the city across all artistic practices in a compelling online presentation,

“The virtual award show, directed by Ron Duquette, highlighted the creative ingenuity displayed by the achievements of our 53 finalists, including 16 MARTY winners and three Community Awards Winners.

“The show featured performances by MARTYs host and 2019 Music Solo Vocalist – Established Winner, Arlene; 2019-2021 City of Mississauga Poet Laureate and 2019 MARTY – Literary Arts Emerging Winner, Paul Edward Costa; and 2017 MARTY Dance – Established Winner, Frog in Hand Dance Company.”
