Calling all Mississauga artists and arts groups/collectives, be recognized for your artistic achievements centre stage at the 29th Mississauga Arts Awards (MARTYS)! Nominations are now OPEN!

Mississauga Arts Council is pleased to announce that nominations are now open for the 29th Mississauga Arts Awards (MARTYS), MAC’s annual award celebration honouring outstanding individual and organizational contributions to the arts and cultural activity in our city. Taking place June 26, 2024, at the Mississauga Convention Centre, the MARTYS will recognize achievements in the arts across all artistic practices with an elegant awards show, appetizing dinner, and captivating entertainment. 

Nominations are being accepted in 16 Artistic Excellence Award categories and 4 Community Arts Awards. Please see below for the full list. 

“Local artists deserve to be recognized for their significant contributions to the quality of life and cultural landscape in Mississauga. Our creative community will have their artistic achievements shared with an audience of over 500 art leaders and groups, centre stage for all to recognize and congratulate them,” states Mike Douglas, MAC’s Executive Director, “For the past two years, we have had sold-out shows celebrating over 50 finalists and 20 winners. As we head into the City’s milestone 50th anniversary, we look forward to celebrating our outstanding honourees at a very special edition of our grand awards show on June 26, 2024 at the Mississauga Convention Centre.

“The nomination process is simple and easy to follow, with instructional step-by-step guidelines and webform to make submitting your nomination straightforward,” says Sherri Parliament, MAC’s Communications Manager, “Be a part of the legacy, notable winners from the MARTYs include; Billy Talent, Robert J. Sawyer, Liberty Silver, Gil Moore, and Anna Yin. We encourage Mississauga artists from all disciplines to submit a nomination!”

MAC encourages artists and arts groups to submit their nominations on their behalf with one (1) reference. Professional artists and groups who are either residents of the City of Mississauga, have a significant connection to Mississauga, or have made a major contribution to the arts within Mississauga are eligible to be nominated in the artistic award categories and community arts award categories.
