Mississauga Arts Council, Peel Region and Stantec announce the Lakeshore Mural Project!

Mississauga Arts Council (MAC), Peel Region and Stantec are pleased to announce a Request for Proposals “RFP” for the Lakeshore Mural Project (Lakeshore Road Artistic Hoarding Mural Project), four digital murals that will be installed onto hoarding around sites on Lakeshore Road in Port Credit, Mississauga. Open to professional Mississauga-based artists, these calls were created to provide prominent artistic opportunities to local artists. Please see below for the full list of calls.

“I was excited by this idea I put forward to Peel Region and the Mississauga Arts Council,” says Ward 1 Councillor, Stephen Dasko, ”Over the next few years of construction taking place on the Lakeshore Trunk Sewer and Sub-transmission Main, we will have incredible local artists displaying their talents for everyone to enjoy!”

“Mississauga Arts Council is delighted to celebrate our City and Region’s 50th by supervising the largest outdoor art gallery project yet, thanks to the support of Peel Region,” says Mike Douglas, MAC’s Executive Director, “We can’t wait to see what beautiful original works these talented artists create for unique sites along Lakeshore Road.”

Lakeshore Mural Project – Richard’s Memorial Park
Artist Fee: $10,000
RFP for a digitally rendered hoarding mural at Richard’s Memorial Park inspired by a flip-book idea.
Deadline: April 29, 2024 at 9 AM


Lakeshore Mural Project – Pine Avenue
Artist Fee: $8,000
RFP for a digitally rendered hoarding mural at Pine Avenue.
Deadline April 29, 2024 at 9 AM


Lakeshore Mural Project – Wesley Avenue
Artist Fee: $8,000
RFP for a digitally rendered hoarding mural at Wesley Avenue.
Deadline April 29, 2024 at 9 AM


Lakeshore Mural Project – 5A & 5B Front Street
Artist Fee: $7,000
RFP for a digitally rendered hoarding project mural at 5A & 5B Front Street and other nearby sites.
Deadline April 29, 2024 at 9 AM

These hoardings aim to cover some of the traffic-facing portions of the Lakeshore Sanitary Trunk construction project consisting of 4.0 Km of 2400mm sanitary sewer extending down Lakeshore Rd. from Jack Darling Park to Elmwood Ave.

“Since its inception in 2020, Murals with MAC has supported over 50 artists and groups with a total of $196,000 in funding to produce their artist-led projects, significantly contributing to the growth of the arts community in Mississauga.” says Jacqueline Mak, MAC’s Creative Director & Strategist, “I am thrilled to expand Murals with MAC even further for Mississauga artists with these exciting new calls!”
