Project: Charismatic Chiaroscuro
Meena Chopra used her Fall 2024 Matchmaker MicroGrant to support her newest book, Charismatic Chiaroscuro. This book combines poetry, visual art, and multimedia videos in an immersive experience for readers. The book was pre-launched on March 1, 2025, via an exclusive Zoom event, and the official book launch took place on April 17, 2025, at Heritage Mississauga.
Charismatic Chiaroscuro is a multidisciplinary book project blending poetry, digital art, and video to explore chiaroscuro – a term used to describe the contrasting effect of light and dark, traditionally in visual art. Featuring 44 poems, 80 artworks, and 78 art videos – accessible via QR codes printed among the book’s poems – the project offers readers an immersive, multimedia experience.
The book is being promoted via a series of community engagement events across the GTA, including public readings at Chapters/Indigo locations, author talks at libraries in Mississauga, Grimsby, and Woodstock, as well as internationally in New Delhi and Chandigarh, India.
