Project: Strings Attached
Visual artist and writer Dechen Yee used her Matchmaker MicroGrant to produce the second edition of Strings Attached, an interdisciplinary community arts event bringing together visual artists, poets, and musicians for an open mic and en plein air (outdoor) session.
Held on June 6, 2026, at the Unitarian Congregation in Mississauga, the multi-disciplinary showcase successfully brought together 30 Mississauga artists and engaged 100 attendees. The vibrant, family-friendly day packed the venue’s hall and grounds with live music, author readings, live painting, and a dedicated kids’ activity table, providing an inspiring space that, in turn, paid five local creators.
“Having MAC’s support in such endeavours helps tremendously in bringing enriching and engaging events to the community. A thriving arts scene in any city is a reflection of the happiness and well-being of its inhabitants. I am grateful for MAC’s trust in the vision of ‘Strings Attached’—that creativity runs through all arts, and we are here to celebrate art in all its forms.”
