South Asian Daily: Mississauga Arts Council in partnership with Metalworks Studios announce the Sauga’s Summer Song Contest

““Have you got a hit song in you? Doesn’t the summer inspire great songs? Let’s find out with a free recording session at Metalworks Studios awarded to the winner of this year’s Sauga’s Summer Song Contest!” So urges Mike Douglas, Mississauga Arts Council’s Executive Director, “Our two previous winners took full advantage of winning this contest. Now let’s see what our music community can do next!”

Established in 2021, this contest has been a launch pad for the past two recipients, Adina V, with her winning song, “Admit It”, and David Leask with his winning song, “Feet In Your Shoes”. This contest is open to any professional musician or music group living in Mississauga and working in Pop, Hip Hop, Country, Rock and R&B.

Metalworks Studios has been voted Canada’s Most Outstanding Recording Studio for 17 years in a row!

“Metalworks is always looking for ways to support the development of local talents in Mississauga and this contest with MAC is a perfect vehicle for bringing to light great songs and introducing more great performers,” offers Gil Moore, Founder and CEO of Metalworks Studios. “This exciting contest is a songwriter’s dream come true.” 

Mississauga songwriters just need to write their songs, record it on a demo track and upload it to SoundsUnite as well as mississaugaartscouncil.com/programs/saugasummersongcontest/

Artist Song Upload Instructions for SoundsUnite

To submit a track:

  • Create an account on SoundsUnite
  • Build your profile! 
  • Upload a track by selecting Create Post in the sidebar
  • Click Upload A Song
  • Add your audio, a cover image and title, along with any other information you want to share about your track.
  • Make sure you select the Submit to Sauga’s Summer Song Contest option.
  • Click Upload

Once your track is uploaded, you’ll find it on the Sauga’s Summer Song feed. Be sure to share the link with your friends! Deadline to submit is Tuesday, September 5 at 9 AM.

Mississauga Music is also partnering with the Summer Song Contest as a media partner. “This contest gives musicians the chance to be heard by influential members of the music community which leads to more opportunities,” says Demetrius Nath, Mississauga Music Founder, “We are looking forward to congratulating the winner in September!”

Sauga’s Summer Song Contest was first established in summer of 2021 by Mississauga Arts Council (MAC) in partnership with Metalworks Studios. This impactful contest is juried by a panel of music business peers and was created to help local Mississauga musicians get their summer demos off the ground and into the prestigious Metalworks Studios for a free recording and mixing session.
