The Canada Council for the Arts has just introduced “Together with the Arts,” their 2026–2031 Strategic Plan. This new five-year vision establishes three major directions for national arts funding and advocacy:

  • Direction 1: Strengthen the resilience and well-being of the arts sector.
  • Direction 2: Enable stronger connections between the arts and people.
  • Direction 3: Enhance the benefits of the arts at home and abroad.
  • A commitment to honouring and supporting the arts and cultures of Indigenous Peoples.

This is a very promising vision to guide renewed leadership in advocating for the benefits of the arts, while sharing vital knowledge to strengthen sector capacity.
